STUDY IN LONDON
CL English Language School is a member of the ABLS (Association of British Language Schools), an accreditation body responsible for ensuring only the highest of standards in language schools, and is recognised by the Home Office. CL English is situated in the heart of London, literally just a

just a stone’s throw away from the banks of the River Thames, Big Ben and the London Eye. Just a few minutes from Waterloo and Lambeth North stations, the school is also easily reached by bus. Ideal for those who live in zones 1 or 2. Being so conveniently situated in the centre of the city and just three hours from Paris by Eurostar, CL English students come from all over the world.

The school is open year round and occupies the ground floor of a modern student residence which has a reception, TV room with snack and coffee machines and internet access, where it is possible to meet other students from all corners of the earth.

CL English students, through the London Friends network, meet every week with other groups of students for parties, river cruises on the Thames and trips around the country, providing additional valuable opportunities to practise the language skills they have acquired at school.

The courses offered vary from 3 to 6 hours per day, from Monday to Friday and students can start their course any Monday or Tuesday after taking a level test.
Once they have made sufficient progress, students can move up to the next level. At the end of their course, students are presented with a CL English certificate stating the length of their course and the level of English they have reached.

Students are issued with a school folder after registering and paying for their course in which they can keep all their classroom materials and notes. It is not necessary to buy course books as course teachers will provide students with daily photocopies of materials used which they can also keep in their school folders.

The teachers, who are carefully selected by the Director of Studies for their qualifications and experience, combine their experience with effective modern teaching methods to provide only the highest standards of tuition and are all native English speakers. The teaching method at CL English is based on a communicative approach which utilises group and pair work activities as well as speaking and communication activities in order to maximise the opportunity to improve and develop effective communicative skills in English. In-house workshops and support ensure that teachers are continually developing their skills.

Students can suspend their courses, for example when they have to work extra shifts or go on holiday. They just need to let the school office know in advance. Holidays can be taken for a minimum of one school week starting from Monday and can be resumed, in negotiation with the school office, when students are ready to return to their studies.
It is also possible to register for one of the many international examinations in English at CL English; for example, Cambridge First Certificate or IELTS. CL English also offers courses to prepare students specifically for these examinations in addition to the general English courses they provide.

BARTENDING SCHOOL
Our school was established following the ever increased demand by the cathering industry, for professional bartenders. Straight Up offers to both, men and women, the opportunity to master the skills of modern and classic cocktail bartending.

The system of teaching that we adopt is very practical. The classroom where our lessons take place, includes a two station bar where our students will practice daily the making of drinks and cocktails as many times as needed in order to be confident. It is our aim to provide the employers in London, with some of the most professional bartenders available, and provide our students with a profession that doesn’t know the concept of Job crisis or State boundary!

COURSE OUTLINE

INTRODUCTION: The essence of Bartending, Honesty, Personality.

PROFESSIONAL CHARACTERISTICS: Motivation, Knowledge, Reliabity, Time Keeping, Behaviour, Team Work, Sense of Urgency, Appearance, personal Hygiene, Uniform.

LEGALITIES and TRADING STANDARD: Alcohol, Young person, Duty to refuse service, Weight & Mesaures, Trade Description Act, Consumer Protection Act.

BAR SET UP: Garnish preparation, Mise on place, Stock rotation, Stock requisition.

CODE OF SERVICE: Ground rules, Customer approach, Speed of service, Up-selling, Transactions, Gratuities.

BAR MAINTENANCE: Bar equipment, Glassware, Stock take, Wastage.

HEALT & SAFETY: Safety, Hazards, Working enviroment hygiene.

COCKTAIL RECIPIES: Practical training of ALL our cocktail list (72 cocktails plus All Classic Basic Drinks).

DRINK MAKING TECHNIQUE: Measure and Free Pouring, Build, Shaken, Blended, Stirred and Strained, Mixed Drinks, Flaring.

LIQUOR BACKGROUND: Description and History of all major spirits and liquor.

END OF PROGRAM: Cocktails revision, Induction of job interview, mock exams.

CONCLUSION: Practical and oral exams, Cocktail Bartender Certificate, Job Interview.

Monday to Friday for 4 weeks.

Morning 10.-13
